Candle holder substitute
To replace a candle holder in an unexpected situation, grab an old CD or DVD and place it shiny side up on the table. Position a candle right in the center, and the disk will hold all drips while it is burning. In addition, the disk mirror-like surface will reflect light producing a nice visual effect.

Control over-consumption
If you are trying to cut back on excessive shopping, just ask yourself if you are going to use the item within the next few days before you buy it. When the answer is “NO”, you definitely do not need that immediately (maybe ever!), so do not make the purchase. You will be surprised by how often your mind can change when you use this “questioning yourself” trick.
