Minimize litter box odor

Let the leftover leaves from your green tea dry and sprinkle on the litter. The catechin in the herb claims antibacterial properties to eliminate any odor and the scent helps to prevent fleas.

Dog nail trimming accident

If you accidentally cut the quick of your pet’s nail (internal fleshy part) causing it to bleed (only minor cuts!), distract him with a treat while pressing the nail into a bar of body soap. The soap’s sealing action will contract blood vessels and stop the bleeding.

Keep dog’s paw safe

To prevent unwanted stuff (like chewing gum) from sticking to your dog’s paw pads, massage a small amount of vegetable oil into the pads before taking him for a walk. Gently rub with a damp cloth to remove remaining oil so he does not track it all over the house.

Frozen treat for pets

For the hot days of summer, hydrate your dogs with this frozen treat. Pour chicken broth into an ice cube tray (or a popsicle tray), cover with aluminum foil, poke a stick into each compartment and place in the freezer. Remove pops and treat them as needed.

Keep dogs well behaved

To stop your dog from begging at your party, spread a thin layer of peanut butter or soft cheese on the edges and knots of his favorite bone and give it to him. This will keep him busy for a while.

Cleaning cat’s litter box

Just flush the litter box with very hot water. The high temperature will disinfect the plastic but leave enough cat scent to guarantee your pet’s interest in the same box.

Cleaning dog’s ears

Mix equal parts of vinegar and warm water and place a few drops directly in the dog’s ear canal. Massage the fur at the base of the ear for about 1 minute and use a cotton ball to clean and dry the inner ear.

De-fur clothing easily

Rub an unused dryer sheet on the clothes in a circular motion. The positive particles will eliminate static and remove all the pet hair.

Stressed out cat

Put a small portion of butter on the top of each front paw. This will keep your cat busy licking for quite a while settling him down.

Protecting pet’s paws

Keep your pet’s paws safe from frozen surfaces by coating his pads with medicated lip balm. The waxy moisturizer will protect them against ice and snow, and the camphor will soothe delicate pads and help heal any minor cuts and scrapes he may have.

Messy pet’s meal

Every time your pet eats, he takes a mouthful of food from his bowl, drops it onto the floor and then chows down. Next time, serve him with a large shallow dish, which will allow him to chew in comfort. Deep bowls crowd pet’s meal and cause him to pick up and transfer food out of the dish.

Make sure pet’s water dish stays full

If your pet has a very energetic way to drink water and his dish keeps turning over, try this. Hammer a pole through the center hole of a rust-free angel food cake pan to keep it in place, and then fill the pan with water.

Pet nail-clipping nick

Accidentally, you clipped your pet’s toenail too short and now it is bleeding. As long as the cut is minor, you can apply a pinch of cornstarch onto the wound and use your finger to, very gently, press the area for about 1 to 2 minutes, helping to speed coagulation. You do not need to brush off the product.

Dogs versus garden

To prevent dogs from digging in flower gardens, sprinkle some cayenne pepper over the areas that pets like the most. The spice will tickle their noses making them to sneeze, and the sensation will keep them away.

Gassy pets

If your pet is creating a big trouble, a slow digestive system may be the reason. Mix 2 tbsp of plain yogurt with your pet’s dry food, at least once a day. This procedure will prevent excess gas and help digestion.

Minimize pet shedding

Mix 2 tbsp olive oil into your pet's food twice a week. Fatty acids in oil help to reduce nonseasonal shedding, promoting healthy skin and a shiny coat.

No-slip pet dishes

Cut a few wide rubber bands to create flat strips and super-glue them across the bottom of your pet’s bowls. This will cause friction between the dishes and the floor, and will prevent your pet from pushing his food and water across the room.

Clean pet-hair quickly

Guests are on their way to your house and your couch has unpleasant fur from your dog. Grab an old fleece jacket and use it to wipe down the sofa. The electro-static charge of the synthetic fabric attracts fur and locks it in its nappy texture.

Get your pet to sleep at his bed

To persuade your canine to use his own bed, store it in the hamper with your worn clothes for a few days. Dogs are attracted to their owner’s scent and will settle for things that smell like you.

Keep dog’s water cold

Crush a few fresh mint leaves and toss them into dog’s water dish (be sure your pet likes the taste). The menthol in the herb sends a “cold” signal to the dog’s brain, creating a cooling sensation. Water in bowl will smell better as well.
