Make a moist burger

Keep a door from catching on the floor
Tape a piece of sandpaper rough side up to the catching spot. Through normal use, the door will slowly be sanded. When it is moving freely, remove the sandpaper and clean the area.

Improvise a carpet shampoo
To remove any unexpected spill or grease stain from a rug, apply some shaving cream to the spot and let sit for about 5 minutes. Scrape off the foam with a spatula and dab the area with a wet cloth. Let dry and vacuum as usual.

Avoid splatters after painting projects
To prevent paint splatters from happening when you are doing your job, dip a clean cloth in petroleum jelly and run it around the edges of whatever you want to protect (windowpanes, doorknobs, hinges etc.). Wipe up any after work mess with a damp clean cloth. This tip works well for windows, metalwork and floors (even linoleum and tiles).

Cleaning a narrow-neck vase
To wash a vase with a narrow neck, pour 1 tbsp of uncooked rice, a drop of dish detergent and some warm water into it. Cover the top with your hand and shake it vigorously. The rice works as an abrasive, removing all the grime.
